Zabbix seems so close to a fully automated solution to me. However, I don't seem to be able to get the final mile and was wondering if anyone can help.
My infrastructure is such that if a server running the zabbix agent with a uname containing "Linux" is found on the 10.10.0.0/24 network then it is a production Linux server that needs to be monitored with all the items, actions and triggers associated with the MyCompany_Linux_Template.
I can do most of this. I can auto discover and add a host based on rules to the Linux_Servers host group. I can add the MyCompany_Linux_Template to the Linux_Servers host group. However, this doesnt perform the template linkage so there are no items associated with any of these auto-discovered hosts when you check in the config. Instead I have to manually go to each host and run the template linkage to inherit the items I require.
Am I missing something conceptually, or is this a feature request that doesnt exist yet?
