    Creating many actions?!

    Hi,

after the fast help from Calimero at my last thread, i want to aks another essential thing for me, I wonderd that I found nothing about that issue I hope that I don't miss that right feature in zabbix.

I want to monitor about 300 Server 30 Switches with zabbix, so I must create a lot of actions to send mails to our it crew if a problem occurred:

    300hosts * 20triggers(each) = means 6000actions

    or

Monitoring a 48port cisco (up status of the interfaces, error packets, reject packets...) that means at least 3*48 per Switch and we have at least 30 of them.

    Means (3*48)*30 = 4320 actions?!

I think I miss the right way to configure actions, right?

    Thanks in advance!

You can create a single "catch all" action if you want. That is to say a single Action without "filters".

We use 4 "generic" actions over here:
    - notify system administrators for any host except hostgroup "NETWORK"
    - notify a special 'sysadmin' user with media=SMS for any host except hostgroups NETWORK/TEST/DEV and only for triggers with severity >= HIGH
    - notify network administrators for any host in hostgroup NETWORK
    - notify a special 'netadmin' user with media=SMS for any host in hostgroup NETWORK and trigger severity >= High

Depending on who and what you want to notify you may only need a few actions.
