syslog facility for server/proxy?

In the docs, it says if the LogFile parameter is not set, the zabbix proxy/server will use syslog. Which syslog facility? I've commented out that parameter, but I'm not seeing zabbix logs show up in /var/log/messages. Thanks for any clarification.

Well, actually it is supposed to use syslog, if the parameter is commented out. However there is a known issue (ZBX-3, very old one), which suggests that the logging to syslog does not work.

Do you know which version of zabbix that affects? I'm currently on 1.6.4. Thanks for the prompt reply.

It affects all 1.6.x, has to be fixed in 1.6.7.
