No Data In "Latest Data" But Can Get Data via Telnet

Can telnet to monitored host and issue

    zabbix_agentd.exe -t perf_counter[\Hyper-V Hypervisor Logical Processor(Hv LP 0)\% Guest Run Time]

    this returns a value.

Have Item configured in UI but wont return a value.

I have changed data types around to test but no go.

    Any pointers?

    Thanks
    C.

Have you tried zabbix_get from the Zabbix server?

I'll give that a try. Is the syntax the same as for testing the agent?

      Thanks

So is it true then that zabbix agent can retrieve the data from Windows but Zabbix Sender cant send to Zabbix Server?

Seems like a bit of a daft disconnect if so??

          Please advise.

          Thanks
          Colin.

You're going about this all wrong! Forget about telnet.

            zabbix_get doesn't have a -t parameter.

Use zabbix_get directly from the zabbix server.

            Example:

            ./zabbix_get -s 10.20.30.100 -k perf_counter[\Hyper-V Hypervisor Logical Processor(Hv LP 0)\% Guest Run Time]

For more info try ./zabbix_get -h

              Getting there...

              OK Mr Ken...

Thanks for the heads up. So, good, it returns a value to the console on the server (after adding double quotes to the syntax posted above) as follows.

              [root@zabbix sbin]# ./zabbix_get -s 10.20.30.100 -k perf_counter["\Hyper-V Hypervisor Logical Processor(Hv LP 0)\% Guest Run Time"]
              0.737394
              [root@zabbix sbin]#

              Super!

Still no output to the Zabbix UI though...

              Any further thoughts on that?

              Cheers
              Colin.

                Super! Indeed!

Not sure but maybe you could try the double quotes in the item configuration.

Check the zabbix_server.log for errors, and/or the configuration of Items page will also show errors in the right-hand column.

In short, if you can get a value with zabbix_get, then you should get data in Latest data.

Tried the double quotes to no avail (nor single quotes)

No errors in right column of config of items either.

Thats a big old log...if i pipe out to grep and look for perf_counter i dont see any dialogue with that host 10.20.30.100

Grateful for a suggestion on what to search for in the log...?

                  Thanks
                  C.

You could try grepping the host IP address or hostname.
Also, on the Items config page, refresh the page to be sure there's no error.

No error = should be ok.

Next thing to try is changing your Item's key. Check this thread, in particular post #10 point #2. Could be worth a try.

                    Good luck.

Thanks Mr Ken but still getting no data returned to the GUI.

The post at 12393 is interesting but doesn't apply in my setup. My host is server 2008. The registry key exists but there are no values under it...

I will try and create an alias in the agent.conf and see if that works but it sounds like I'm clutching at straws...

                      Any other ideas??

Where there is a will, there is a way!

Sorry, I don't do a great deal of windows monitoring, however I can relate a problem that I had recently using snmp.

On the Zabbix server command line, I could successfully run this command:
                        snmpwalk -v2c -c public hostIP .1.3.6.1.3.94.1.6.1.6

But when I added that item to zabbix gui, it would throw an error everytime.

So I added that command as a UserParameter to the zabbix_agentd.conf on the zabbix server:
                        UserParameter=SPB.conn,snmpwalk -v2c -c public hostIP .1.3.6.1.3.94.1.6.1.6 | awk -F" " '{ print $4; }'

                        Works like a charm.

A bit of lateral thinking will yield results. Keep trying.
