    Multiple Event Notifications

    Hi,

I have a User Group with 3 Users in in. Two of the users have email addresses only, and one of the users (myself) have 3 email addresses and 1 jabber notification setup.

When an event is generated (in this case, on an event I didn't create. I guess it's built into Zabbix - too many running processes > 10) I get 8 emails to one of my email addresses, and none to anything else. The other users in the group get nothing.

The emails all have the same timestamp. Four of the emails have the subject: Too many processes running on server: PROBLEM and the other 4 have the subject: Too many processes running on server: PROBELM SEVERITY: Average.

Has anybody seen this before, and how can I fix it? I'm moving from Nagois to Zabbix, so I may be doing something really stupid.

    Hi,

    Thing to check:

    First: each user needs read access to each host (or will not receive alerts);
Second: did you see 'Events' to know if each message refers to a single event ?

If you have more than one 'Media' to a user ZABBIX will send a alert to each media (is possible to adjust severity to each media).

      Hi,

      1. Each user is essentially an admin, as I am as well. So we all have the same access to the systems.

      2. The emails all see to correspond to a single event"

      2009.Oct.20 05:22:27 PROBLEM 30s 7h 48m 4s - 16 8

Where the 16 is emails sent only to me, and the 8 is failed attempts at GoogleTalk.

      3. My media is set to this:

      email [email protected] NIWAHD
      email [email protected] NHD
      email address@smsgateway AHD
      jabber [email protected] NIWAHD

The other users have a single email to [email protected]

You're talking about the permissions in Aministration -> Users then selecting the user and checking it's permissions right?

If not, configure all of them with the correct Read permissions to the Hosts/Host Groups you want to monitor.

Ahhhh! I missed the button at the bottom that said 'users rights'. Doh. It's been a bad week, and that's my excuse.

          Thanks for your help.

Nah, still can't figure it out. I can see the user rights, but I can't figure out where to change them.

I'll look at the manual again.

That was only to check if the user's had different permissions.

Aministration -> Users, chose Users Group on the dropdown button on the upper right corner

Click in an existent group/Create a new one,
Now on the center collum 'Read Only' click on the 'Add' button and select the Host Groups you need to monitor.

Got it! Thanks. Not exactly intuitive, but it gets the jobs done.

Thanks for the link. I'll think it through and see if I can come up with something.
