    Actions & TRIGGER.VALUE=UNKNOWN

    Hi there,

as my server was down Zabbix didn't notify me about and after a long search on the web and no success I like to ask here:
How can I create a trigger that will be activated if either rule itself is true or if TRIGGER.VALUE is UNKNOWN?
I already tried to use {TRIGGER.VALUE}=2 (also: #1, >0 ...), but that didn't help. I don't understand why there is no such option for an alert to set instead of "OK" or "PROBLEM" the "UNKNOWN" value as requirement.
Is there a way of being notified about UNKNOWN events/states?

    Thank for helping
    Thomas

    Puff...

Somebody correct me here if I'm wrong, but the only way to have this as I see it is creating an Item type Log with key eventlog[] over zabbix_server.log, alerting when the string 'unknown' pops up.

      "as my server was down",

Why don't you create a simple snmp ping check that verifies if the machine is alive anyways?

Sorry, but what exactly do you mean?

Cause I didn't want to install another package into my system. I have chosen Zabbix so I don't have to install many other packages. Actually a trigger for an unknown value should be there by default for a monitoring tool as it means something is going wrong - don't you think?

I was talking about Zabbix Simple Check items, you only need fping package for that,
            don't forget
            chmod +s /usr/sbin/fping
            Attached Files
