Agent/Server version differences

Hi, I'm currently running a zabbix 1.4.4 server and agents. I have a new computer I'd like to monitor and I'd like to use the builtin 1.6.4 agent installation from the package manager. Will this agent communicate properly to/with the older server?
I read in the manual that the newer 1.6 server works fine with older agents, I just don't recall seeing the other way around?

Haven't tried that way yet, but advice you to update server as well. Version 1.6 is more efficient and has a couple of new and really useful features. I did it without any problem so far.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I do plan to upgrade. I was just wondering if until the upgrade, I could add this new pc in to monitor with the new version.
