mysql file is very large!!!

Hi everyone:
I found that the file of ibdata1 in the mysql directory, it grow larger .How could I limit it the size.Thanks.

What do you consider to be a large ibdata file? 20-30GB is not that unheard of. The file will grow until all items have a full trends period of data. So if you have all items storing trending data for 365 days it will grow until one year is reached at which point things will level out. If you're really concerned about the amount of data stored you need to reduce the length of time data is stored in the DB and how often you poll it.

I would also suggest searching the forums as this has been discussed a few times and some of those posts may help answer some of your questions.
