    Some questions about Zabbix

    Hi,

I'm looking for an auditing tool and found Zabbix. I have some questions about what is possible with Zabbix. I looked into the doku, but could not find my answers there.

So what do I need: I want to audit the useage of several commercial software products on WindowsXP workstations. We have a certain number of licenses for every application, but we want to install them on every workstation and then monitor their usage. If the number of running instances of any application on the workstations reaches the number of licenses we own, we want to prohibit on all remaining workstations the use of this application and instead display a message like: "No more free licenses for <application name>. Please try again later."

    Is this possible with Zabbix?

Thanks for any info in advance.

Probably not without some serious coding for addtional functionality. the communications, database, and monitor framework exists to do what you want but you would have to write something to enforce not launching the app on the remote workstation and logic to allow the server to activate and deactivate that chunk of code based on the status of your count.
