    Regex or similar on SNMP reads?

    Hi all,

    I'm currently monitoring a large network of devices via SNMP v2. One of our device types is the Nortel 5000 Optical Metro series of devices. I have looked up the OID in the MIB for the SFPs RX level on this gear and am able to read it successfully.

    The trouble is, it appears the device wants to read back the data as part of a comma separated array or something. Like this:

    SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.2865.1.4.1.1.10.4196865 = STRING: "-6.647428, , , , , , "

    It's the ", , , , , , " part that's giving me trouble at the moment. They never have anything in them, and I don't need them - I'd like to be able to the store the data as numeric in Zabbix so that it can draw me pretty graphs based on historical RX data - the only trouble is Zabbix can't convert the data to numeric.

    Is there a way I can trick Zabbix into ditching the extra commas and spaces at the end so I can store the data numerically?
Working...
