Been trying to figure this out for a while now, followed the upgrade nodes but stll seeing the previous version, the zabbix_server processes are starting up as 1.8 but the front end is still showing ZABBIX 1.6.5 Copyright 2001-2009 by SIA Zabbix

Got it working, my fault for not updating the new webpages in the apache conf
Did have a mysq error though once the new page was there:

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /usr/share/zabbix/include/db.inc.php:58) in /usr/share/zabbix/include/page_header.php on line 72
Commenting out the bind-address in the /etc/mysql/my.cnf file cured it though.
