    External Monitoring

    Hello,

Can Zabbix be used to monitor thousands of external HTTP sites? Is there a way to run multiple monitoring agents in different locations?

    Thanks,
    Av

    hi,
you can use as much agents as you like. eg. on different ports.
on the other hand you may want to use a script like this wich is executed by one agentd

I guess my question is: Can Zabbix be used by a "service provider" to monitor any number of external (remote) hosts. The service provider would not have any control over what is installed on these hosts. I would only be able to monitor internet-accessible resources: TCP ports, PINGs, HTTP, etc.

Is Zabbix the right system for this requirement?

        Greetings,

The way I read your question is 'Can Zabbix be used as a replacement for S(h)itescope?'

Yes, Zabbix can provide all the abilities you gain from shitescope, and then some.

The Agent and / or SNMP are only required if you want to monitor non-public information from remote systems.
