Zabbix 1.6.6 Installation

Hi,
I am a newbie in Zabbix.
I need to install zabbix 1.6.6 with mysql as db in our local environment.
can anyone guide me for Zabbix installation and Configuration?
Is there any step by step guide for done is this?
i gone through the manual,but its very hard to do.
Please can anyone guide?
i am plan to do install in rhel4.

You have already downloaded Scotty's window's installer. The install is very straight forward, like installing anything else on Windows - follow the instructions on http://www.suiviperf.com/zabbix/ where it says "Using the Binary Package".

You need to create a Host in zabbix and link it to the Windows_Template.

Hi,
i ran the exe and its asked zabbix server ip and check box to select agent and all.
After that i got setup completed succesfully Message.
is any services or port i need to start in windows machine ?
Or any config files there to change in Windows machine?
I installed the agent in D:/ProgramFiles.

You shouldn't need to do anything to ports.

Open windows task manager, 'Processes' tab, and check that zabbix_agentd.exe is running as SYSTEM.

In D:\ProgramFiles there should be a folder called 'zabbix'. In that folder is zabbix_agentd.conf, you shouldn't need to change anything for now, but in this file you can add your own UserParameters.

Now create your host, link the template and see what happens.

HI MrKen,
I checked the Process tab in task manager their no process running as zabbix
How can i startup the agent ?
Also in the program files in D: there is a folder zabbix in there is no file named agentd.conf.
The below list of files only there under D:/ProgramFiles/Zabbix Agent :

zabbix_agentd
zabbix_get
zabbix_sender

and Uninstall

Even am added the Host in Zabbix Monitoring server,I got only host not reachable alert

You have zabbix_agentd and zabbix_agentd. One of them is .conf and the other is .exe

Try executing the .exe file and see if it starts.

Also check the .conf and make sure the various details are correct (Zabbix_server IP address, Port Number, Hostname [case sensitive, i.e must be the same as you set in zabbix gui]).

Maybe time you downloaded the 1.6 Zabbix manual, and take some time to read through the wiki (and forums).

Before you can receive an alert you will need:
Users & Usergroups with permissions to read/write to the relevant hosts.
Define media for alerts - email, jabber, sms.
Add the media to the users.
Define triggers for relevant items.
Then you can define Actions for those triggers.

That should keep you busy for the next hour!

i have followed the steps by you
Now i have a process zabbix_agentd.exe running as system user in task manager.
I have configured the Host in zabbix server and added windows template for that.

Now i am get grey blink in the server(Hostname) is unreachable.

For your reference i am giving belo my zabbix-agentd.conf
i have a query here: for Listen IP need to give windows monitoring IP ?

Hi,

Your agentd.conf looks fine to me. But just to be sure:

Server=192.168.1.247 [This is the IP of the Zabbix Server?]

Hostname=2003 [This is the Hostname as it appears on your Conf of Host page in the Zabbix gui? - this must be exactly as it appears in zabbix (case sensitive)]

Do you see anything in Monitoring -> Latest data?
Anything in zabbix_server.log?
Anything in zabbix_agentd.log?
Is the Firewall enabled on the Windows server?

I am getting Server(Hostname)is Unreachable.

Thank you very much for all the support.Now i am able to monitor windows agent.

Now i am plan to make a own template to monitor some things.
can you help me to setup a template and export the template in some other zabbix server?
for create template i am tried with Configuration->Hosts->Templates->Create Template
is this right way to create template?
Also i want to know add the item in newly created template.
Also i want to know the procedure of exporting and importing template some where.
