Add an Item

Hi,
i want to know can we add the new Item in zabbix_agent.conf using UserParameter value?
Also how can we integrate the Item in GUI Zaabix and add Trigger value for the item we mentioned in UserParametr ?

Can anyone little bit explain ?

In the zabbix_agent.conf i have added the value as
UserParameter=oracle.instance,ps -aef | grep pmon | grep -v "grep" | wc -l

and create the item in zabbix,i have added manually the key value as oracle.instance and created the trigger.
While am check in overview i cant see result in zabbix overview.
In triggers i get error as :
Error:
Trigger just added. No status update so far.

Can anyone guide to resolve this.

U should check the parameter directly to see what the agent is answering.

then, after modifying the agent config file, did u restart the agent ?

or we can give any name in userparameter and can call up in Key in GUI ?

Coz, am using key as oracle.instance for monitoring oracle instance. is that right ?

To check a user param, u can connect on your zabbix server and type :
telnet ip_server 10050


then u enter the name of the user parameter

Can you use:

zabbix_get -s <HOST IP> -k oracle.instance

Thats' it. Of course you need restart you ZABBIX Agent after include new UserParameter.
