Where do I define what Community String Zabbix has to sue

    I am running Zabbix 1.8.

I have used "Creat Host" to monitor 2 of our switchs, with the Template_cisco_877 for one and Template_SNMPv2_Device.

Can someone tell me where in zabbix I have to define the SNMP community string we use to access our switchs ( that is not 'public') .

Is there a way to define a "Default community string" that will be used for all added host created with a dedicated group ?

    Thanks

    Well, I've done it via

    mysql> update `items` set `snmp_community` = "xxxxxxx" WHERE `snmp_community` = "public" ;
Query OK, 4197 rows affected (0.43 sec)
    Rows matched: 4197 Changed: 4197 Warnings: 0

Is there another way ? (more "user-friendly").

Of course there is a much better way - use mass-update for items.

        Hi Alexei,

Thanks for this answer, but may I ask you to be a bit more explicite, I am quite new with zabbix, but do network monitoring since more than 10 years.

        regards,

        JMJ

OK, got it. I haven't seen the "Items" Column in the "Hosts" view...
          Thanks anyway.

          regards

Sorry for being very brief in my previous response. I'll do better next time!

Select all host items in the list of items and then select 'Mass update' option in the drop-down below the list.
