    Simple ping status

    Hello,

I'm new to Zabbix. Just installed it on Ubuntu and seems to be running just fine. We have several remote devices we would like to monitor, but there is no way or even a chance to install any agents or configure SNMP on these remote devices. Is there a way via Zabbix to just simply do a status check on these devices to see if they are alive via ICMP?

Seems there are a lot of tutorials on installing Zabbix, however trying to figure out where to start with monitoring, even with the documentation is puzzling.

Are there any walk thru guides out there on how to setup monitoring from pings to possibly SNMP?

    Thanks

you can use the simple check "icmppingsec" This will tell you how long it takes a host to respond or 0 if it isn't.
