    Zabbix Server setup

    Hello all,

I have a question regarding disk partitioning, I have a server on which will be tested Zabbix. I have 2 72gb 15k SAS drives and another 2 146gb 15k SAS drives. I was looking to implement 2 RAID 1 arrays but I am a bit curious as to how I should partition for optimal operations.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Zabbix aside, from a server hardware perspective the two arrays would in most circumstances give you the best performance, especially if you can put them on seperate controllers.

The key thing is the performance of your SQL server. Idealy RAID 1+0 is fastest if you have more than 4 drives in the array. For most installations you will not need to worry too much about your storage space. However with the system you have on hand you might want to think of putting your indexes and less used tables on the smaller drives and putting the history and trends tables on the other drives. This will help to reduce some of your bottlenecks.
