    ZABBIX is temporary unavailable!

    Hello,

    I am testing Zabbix on a virtual machine and when I try to access the web interface of zabbix (on IE or firefox) it marks the following message: ZABBIX is temporary unavailable!

    So I would like to know how can I solve this problem.

    I specify that Zabbix was already installed in this virtual machine when I began to use it because an other personn have already test Zabbix in this virtual machine. I think that it could be Zabbix which is not correctly installed.

    The Operating System of the virtual machine is RedHat and I access to this virtual machine because of the software Putty.

    Thanks

    most likely database access information is incorrect (or database is having problems). check conf/zabbix.conf.php file in the frontend directory.

      In the file /var/www/html/zabbix/conf/zabbix.conf.php, I have:

      global $DB;

      $DB["TYPE"] = "MYSQL";

      $IMAGE_FORMAT_DEFAULT = ;IMAGE_FORMAT_PNG
      ?>
      $DB["DATABASE"] = "zabbix";
      $DB["USER"] = "root";
      $DB["PASSWORD"] = "";
      $ZBX_SERVER_PORT = "10051";

      $IMAGE_FORMAT_DEFAULT = ;IMAGE_FORMAT_PNG
      QL";
      $DB["SERVER"] = "localhost";
      $DB["PORT"] = "0";
      $DB["DATABASE"] = "zabbix";

            is your database named 'zabbix' ?
            is your database really accessible for root user without any password ?

            verify access to it matches with credentials and details in config file.

              Is there also a message at the top which says: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)[/usr/local/share/zabbix/include/db.inc.php:56] or similar?

              Try starting mysql

                I can start MySQL (I did " service mysql start " and it's OK) and I don't really understand richlv what do you want to say with " verify access to it matches with credentials and details in config file ".

                  you have configured frontend to access a specific database using some user and password. you should verify that it is indeed possible to do so.

                    What richlv is saying is that according to the above you have a database called "zabbix", with a user called "root", and no password.

                    Run this command: mysql -u root

                    If you successfully connect with mysql, then do: show databases;
                    and confirm that there is a database called "zabbix".

                    Next check your zabbix_server.conf, near the end of that file you will see details about DBHost, DBName, DBUser, DBPassword, check that these details are the same as what you have in /var/www/html/zabbix/conf/zabbix.conf.php

                    Note: probably not a good idea to have a db user called 'root' with no password!

                    Also check zabbix_server.log, if zabbix fails to connect to the db it will show in the log.

                        You will need to be logged in as root.

                        Have a look in /usr/bin/ for mysql, then try (in that directory)

                        mysql -u root

                        or

                        ./mysql -u root

                        Check that mysql is running. > ps -ef | grep mysql

                          But I'm logged in root, that's all the problem...
                          In /usr/bin I have these files mysql:
                          /usr/bin/mysql_setpermission
                          /usr/bin/mysql_convert_table_format

                          /usr/bin/mysql_secure_installation
                          /usr/bin/mysqld_multi
                          /usr/bin/mysqlbug
                          /usr/bin/mysql_zap
                          /usr/bin/mysqldumpslow

                          /usr/bin/mysqlhotcopy
                          /usr/bin/mysqld_safe
                          /usr/bin/mysqltest
                          /usr/bin/mysql_install_db
                          /usr/bin/mysql_upgrade

                          But not mysql like you can see...

                            The 'ZABBIX is temporary unavailable!' message usually means that mysql and/or zabbix_server is not running.

                            Considering the output of your /usr/bin directory, and the fact that another person had installed zabbix, there is a good chance that it is not correctly installed - as suggested by yourself.

                            What is the output of ps -ef?
                            Any clues in the zabbix_server.log?
                            Any idea which version of Zabbix?

                            Perhaps it would be easier for you to start from scratch. Here is a link to a great script which will install Zabbix on CentOS: http://blog.brendon.com/unix/install...-the-easy-way/
