Few questions (avaibility, sms)

Hello everyone,

I've started using zabbix for two weeks, it will be one of my five grade projects.

I'm running zabbix under ubuntu 9.10 (zabbix 1.6.4).

But for now, i'm experiencing two problems, and i've got a few questions.

Problems :
- How to test the avaibility of an host ? In try to test the avaibility of a linux host, but cant' get it working. Status copied from template not working ("trigger just added" error, can't get it disapear). Then i tried system.status, not working either (when host was disconnected, i had the good status (2), but after reconnecting => "not suporter by zabbix").

I'm looking for a way to have an item which will tell my when the computer is off/not reacheable.

Also, when i disconnect my host, i took a long time (3-5 minutes) for zabbix to see it and change his status, but when i connect it back zabbix quickly see that's the host is available again.

About SMS alert, i get it working easily, but i would like someone to tell me how it works. AT Command? Something else? that's just for the documentation attached to the projected, no real problem here.

I get the availability stuff working. When i copy the item status only, and add the trigger, i get the error "just added trigger" who never disappears, and the machine avaibility is unknown. But when i add other items like "web server is running", the status works and the avaibility check is done in time (zabbix directly see when the host is not responding).

Still looking for explanations about sms working, AT command or anything .
