How do I view the eventlog/syslog collected by Zabbix Agent?

    Hi there,

As subject, when I go to 'latest data', I got "Only Accessible by Active check".
Is there a way to search/query the eventlog/syslog collection by Zabbix agent in the interface?

I mean when I use zabbix_get, "Accessible only by Active Check" prompts up, what does that mean?
How do I perform an active check?

    Thank you very much!

    Best,
    Jacky

You've got to edit the item you created for the syslog, and change "Type" to Zabbix Agent (Active) as seen below.

For Active items to work, your zabbix_agentd.conf file on your host must contain the field Hostname=xxxxxxxx with x being whatever you want your host to be known as to Zabbix. Restart the agent.

In the Zabbix frontend, make sure that the name of the host matches exactly what you have entered in your zabbix_agentd.conf file above.

      Hi tchjts1,

      Thx for your reply ~~~

I changed the agent type to "active" and change the zabbix_agentd.conf hostname to the host name I set at zabbix frontend ...

I still cannot get the syslog details but "Accessbile only by active check" ...

      How do I process ?

      Best,
      Jacky

Did you restart the Zabbix Agent service on your host after you made the change to zabbix_agentd.conf?

Do you have the key for the item like this? eventlog[System]

Maybe someone with more experience regarding logs could help you. I only did it one time. The server I did it on apparently had 6 years worth of system logs sitting on it and Zabbix pulled all that information back.

          Hi tchjts1,

That sounds very straightforward according to your experience ...
Do you import the eventlog template from zabbix frontend ...
I am afraid that I don't have the eventlog template, I am running zabbix 1.8.1 ~~

          Here is my settings ...

          THX ~~~

Hmmm. Odd. Your settings look correct. Maybe it is a bug in 1.8.1... I don't know.

I am not currently running 1.8, so I can't do any testing.

              Hi there,

I still cannot show my window eventlog detail in zabbix frontend ...
Instead, I tried to show linux box syslog detail ... and I am successful ...

              Configuration of the 'Item'

Sucessfully show the log details ..

It there anything wrong in my window's agent configuration or template settings?
