    import from old zabbix

    hi all

    I have an older verion of zabbix and an now running the new beta.

    Can I import my old domains (triggers) etc and their history from the old version of zabbix to the new version ?

    How do I go about importing them ?
    Or is it just a case of using the old mysql database and it will just work ?

    I have far to many domains to do it one at a time.

    Thanks for the help

    Greetings,

    There shouldn't be any issues as long as you use each of the dbpatches in sequence from your current version to the current beta2 patch. Please note that there are at least 14 db patches between 1.0 and the current 1.1beta2. Additionally, you will want to make sure that your zabbix server process is shutdown while you do this or the results could be disasterous. Probably want to back up your DB too, just in case.

      hey

      thanks for the reply.

      I have moved to a new server and installed the new beta. So i cant just import the old zabbix configs (database) etc to the new version ?

      Is my only option to move the version of zabbix from my old server t othe new and then do the upgrade patches ?

      Thanks again
      Andy

        Give this a try. Use MySLQ's dump utility to dump the DB to a flat file. Load this flat file onto your new server. This will build the old schema and then load your existing data onto the new server. Then, load each of the dbpatches between your current version and the version of Zabbix that your are moving to.

        Yes, if you are going to move from Zabbix 1.0, there are only two real choices, use the dbpatches to upgrade your database, or build your database from scratch. If you upgrade, you retain all of your existing data. If you build from scratch, you have a clean database and will have to reload all your systems.
