upgrade from zabbix 1.4.6 to zabbix 1.8

I currently have zabbix 1.4.6 and want to upgrade to zabbix 1.8. I currently have 5 debian but do not know how I can upgrade to this. Someone who knows?

I have the same Issue. I bookmark the post .

I think you have to upgrade from 1.4.6 to 1.6.x, then you have to upgrade to 1.8.1. In this way I mean applying DB patches.
I advise you to test DB patches performance on an other server if possible.

What I am sure :
You can directly upgrade binary and fronted form 1.4.6 to 1.8.1. It seams old agents will be compatible with the new version.

In my case, as I plan to change the IP of my zabbix server I will plan to normalize the version of zabbix agent.
