Just installed the VMWare version and was able to boot everything up. When I go to the DHCP Address of the server I get the dreaded:

Access Forbidden!

You don't have permission to access the requested object. It is either read-protected or not readable by the server.

I haven't changed anything yet on the server side but wanted to check and see what I might have done incorrectly.

Not sure what your issue is, but my fix was to give it a reserved IP through DHCP to not have to go deeper into the appliance and break what works. Reboot the server and its on ta static IP.

can you log into it with ssh (root/zabbix) ?

http://<ip address>/zabbix gives me the access forbidden.

I can SSH in using the root login.

that is actually and extremely good advice. the original posting slightly confused me, and i assumed http server itself can't access files.

as noted here - http://www.zabbix.com/documentation/...rontend_access - access to the frontend is limited to common local ip networks. if you want to change access permissions, modify /etc/apache2/conf.d/zabbix.conf and restart the apache process (when logged in as root) :

 service apache2 restart

Exactly, I faced the same issue when accessing Zabbix frontend due to the IP address (172.16.152.129) received by DHCP.

Thus, I had to include this line on /etc/apache2/conf.d/zabbix.conf:

    Allow from 172.16.152.0/24

And, of course, reload Apache HTTP for the settings to make effect:

# service apache2 reload

I added Allow form all to the top of that config.

But its still not working i cant access externally
