    Vmware/Virtualbox image installation

    Hi,

I've downloaded the vmx version of zabbix.

And, i'm confused has to how it works.

I expected a LAMP system, with a zabbix agent installed. But when I look into the Apache default website folder, I can't find the website.

I've set Apache to my IP address with port 85, because its a virtual machine.

    and from a browser I receive a 403:

    Access forbidden!

You don't have permission to access the requested directory. There is either no index document or the directory is read-protected.
    ls /srv/www/htdocs returns nothing.

Where abouts are the zabbix files sorted and how is apache meant to be configured to serve zabbix?

    Thanks,

    Matthew Millar

    I've sorted it.

the vmware image uses opensuse studio, so you can use Yast to configure apache if you want.

The two apache settings "Document Root" and "Directory" need to both be configured to:

    "/usr/share/zabbix/"

If you aren't using Yast, you'll need to restart the server.

You should then be able to access zabbix, using the servers ip-addressort or fqdnort.

the ip address can get found using ifconfig

The default username for admin is:

    Username: Admin
    Password: zabbix

    Thanks,

    Matthew Millar

Note that the SuSE config as delivered in the VMWare image has the firewall enabled and this prevents active monitoring ie. when agents try to contact the server to report status (instead of being polled by the server) the connection cannot be made.

Same kind of problem over here

I have installed a VM appliance of Zabbix and it work like a charm. But when I forward port 80 on my firewall to the ip adress of the Zabbix server I receive a error 403 access denied.

Hope someone can help me out.
        thanx

that shouldn't be the case - apache config should correctly serve the zabbix frontend. now, by default only access from local networks is allowed - see http://www.zabbix.com/documentation/...rontend_access for more detail

...and that sounds like the same issue, so see above
