    which disto?

    Hey All

So i have only just stumbled across Zabbix and i am keen to get a version online and working ASAP.

We are looking at getting a cloub based VPS with an ISP to start with and then we will move on from there.

the following are options that we have for the disto selection.

    # openSUSE 11 minimal system (32-bit, 64-bit)
    # CentOS 5 minimal system (32-bit, 64-bit)
    # Debian 4.0 (etch) minimal system (32-bit, 64-bit)
    # Ubuntu 8.04 LTS minimal system (64-bit)

the VPS comes with CentOS 5 with Plesk 9 (64-bit) but we can reimage to any of the above.

So are there any recommendation for which disto to use, apart from, which ever one you feel comfortable with

    For me, I'm using CentOS 5 64-bit.

    The official line = http://www.zabbix.com/documentation/1.8/manual/installation/requirements

I'd also stay with CentOS as it's the most RedHattish.

I'm putting in an OpenSuSE vote... I found the biggest issue with CentOS was having to use a 3rd party repository for the PHP libraries with Zabbix 1.8.x, whereas OpenSuSE has zero issues out of the box. CentOS 5.5 however might fix this, we'll see.
