How to make a trigger of a SNMP device that is down?

    Version 1.8.2 zabbix

    my example.

I read ifInOctets.1 and get my numbers.

Them my device goes down and I can't recive any more data using SNMP.

How do I create a trigger to alarm me that my DEVICE is Down?

Iam sure it's simple but I can't find it..

The only workaround I found is to use simple check and ping the device, but that should not be needed when Iam already reading the device using SNMP.

    Please help... Iam lost

    Hi,

You can use nodata() function in trigger expression.
You'll find more details in manual http://www.zabbix.com/documentation/...gger_functions

Thanks for pointing me into correct direction!

And this is how I solved it:

      Created a trigger with:
      Expression = {01-02 coresw45:ifInOctets.31.nodata(60)}=1

Ps. you must first select something in the drop down menu to be able to edit manually.

the (60) is 60 sec it failed to get a readable data.

Now I don't have to ping the devices any more to see if they up or down.
      Less database usage

You could just use ifOperStatus and/or ifAdminStatus. My understanding is that ifOperStatus is what executes an snmptrap for LinkUp LinkDown.
