zabbix discovery by agent not by ip range

hi,

It does not seems possible but can we tell the discovery to be triggered by an agent contacting the server saying 'hello i am there' instead of feeding an ip range to the server ?

My ips are completly scattered so i cannot rely on this and it seems you MUST put an ip range for discovery to work ?

Anyone has an idea on this?

Hi,

You cannot trigger auto discovery, but you can define actions based on agent auto-registration (it was added in 1.8).
You can define them in Configuration/Actions Event Source=Auto registration in pulldown menu.

I don't know if it will fit your needs.
