I've a problem with Active Check from an agent zabbix v1.4.4 (HPUX 11.23)

27165:20100607:144602 Get active checks error: Cannot connect to [myZabbixServer:10051] [Interrupted system call]
27165:20100607:144602 Getting list of active checks failed. Will retry after 60 seconds

My Server Zabbix is a Linux Redhat (zabbix 1.8.2) to install on VM (VMWare)
The Network configuration of VM is: VM Network

    Other Information:
    ------------------------
My Server zabbix match with the name of GUI interface
My hostname HPUX (command: hostname) match with the name of GUI interface too.

--> I would like tu use the item log[] and logrt[]

zabbix agent must be able to connect to the zabbix server - check that it works (try telnetting from agent host to zabbix server on port 10051).

if that fails, you will have to fix that network issue first.

        sorry for the delay,

effectively i've a problem when i try to connect me from client to server with telnet @ip 10051 = Connexion refused

i don't understand with another port it's correct.
My services file is correct (zabbix reference)

May be VMWARE ? Configuration NetWork ?

Information: My agent zabbix it's physical server and my zabbix server it's VM server.

May be a preconisation about installation of zabbix server (VMWARE forgotten ?!)

Do you have a feedback about this ??

        Thanks for your help

if agent can't connect to the server port, that's most likely a non-zabbix problem that you have to solve.

is zabbix server running ? is it listening on the ip it should be listening ? is it really listening on that port ? is the local firewall allowing incoming connections from zabbix agent machine ?

            Hi richlv,

I've to execute the command: netstat -nap | grep 10051

            tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:10051 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 10282/zabbix_server
            tcp 0 0 [my adress IP]:10051 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 10282/zabbix_server
            tcp 0 0 [my adress IP]:60815 172.16.20.54:10051 TIME_WAIT

on the other side i don't have 0.0.0.0:10051, may be that it 's my problem .

information: i don't firewall between the server

            Thanks for your help.

you don't need 10051 port on agent side. now you must ensure that you can telnet from the agent host to zabbix server on port 10051. if not, it's some issue that is not connected to zabbix. if you are saying that other ports work, it has to be some firewall somewhere.

                Sorry,

But my exemple is from zabbix server and not from zabbix agent

                On my zabbix server:

                [root@zabbix_server zabbix]# netstat -nap | grep 25
                tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:25 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN

                [root@zabbix_server zabbix]# netstat -nap | grep 10051
                tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:10051 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 10282/zabbix_server
                tcp 0 0 [my adress IP]:10051 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 10282/zabbix_server
                tcp 0 0 [my adress IP]:60815 172.16.20.54:10051 TIME_WAIT

I see where 0.0.0.0:[port] I can access to the machine with telnet @IP [port] from another server.

                My problem:
                --------------------------------------
                From Zabbix Agent
                --------------------------------------
                telnet zabbix_server 25 --> OK
                telnet zabbix_server 10051 --> NOK

                Sorry for my english.

                Thanks for your help

have you set listen options in zabbix server configuration file ?
are you telnetting to the ip address or dns name of the zabbix server ?

                    Hi, thanks for your help

                    zabbix_server.conf
                    -------------------------------------------
                    ListenPort=10051
ListenIP=[ip adress of my zabbix server] -> not 127.0.0.1

telnet is used with the ip address of the zabbix server.

                    Thanks

and if you comment listen port & ip, restart zabbix server and try telnetting again ?

this seems like wild guessing at this point... but can you telnet to that port from the local machine (zabbix server) ?

                            Hi,

Thanks you very much for your help.

It's OK from the local machine (zabbix server).

                            Thanks.

it sounds like a networking/firewall issue.
while it could be something simple, i can't spot it this way, and it does not look like a zabbix issue to me.
