    Zabbix and Avaya

    Hi guys

Just a quick question, has anyone had any success monitoring any Avaya equipment using Zabbix?

If so, please would you post a quick description on what is being monitored and how successful it is?

    Thanks

that pretty much depends on what exactly the equipment exposes. some devices from avaya have snmp interfaces, maybe others have something else.

Well, I have successfully setup SNMP, and it seems to be working correctly. I have attempted to install Zabbix Agent, but it seems there are a few required packages missing from the Avaya installation. Is there a list of required packages for the agent?

        erm, what's "Avaya installation" ?
as far as i know, avaya is involved in manufacturing/branding lots of different solutions.

Aahh... You are correct, I should have been more specific. I am referring to the Avaya Communication Manager product. In short, it is a call processing application running on a very stripped down version of Red Hat. I have attempted to install the agent on a test system, but it seems it is missing some required packages. Unfortunately, the one thing I cannot do is connect the system to the internet, so I will need to download and install all requirements separately. Unless there is a quicker solution?

try compiling zabbix agent statically on same version redhat (or centos) as the avaya one has, then copy it over and see whether that helps.

              Hi Guys

Ok, I'm going to give this setup another bash now that I have some time on my hands.

I want to try with the pre-compiled binaries, but, I don't really understand which files to copy where, or what permissions to give them? There are 4 files in the zip, 2x in the "bin" folder and 2x in the "sbin" folder. Should I copy these straight onto the machine in the root "bin" and "sbin" folders? Then where do I put the conf file?

              OS is Redhat

Apologies for all the questions, I know just enough about Linux to get me around, lol, never really fiddled like this.

it really depends on what package you are talking about and what the files included in there are.
most likely you need only zabbix_agentd and its config file, but it is hard to be sure with the info you provided
