Monitoring AV

I would like to be able to monitor antivirus on Windows machines (XP, 7, 2003 and 2008), specifically Nortons, but if it can be generic even better. The main things I would like to be able to monitor are the last scan date and the date of the most recently installed virus definitions. Has anyone had any luck with this?

1. install an Agent on user's PC (turn on Active mode, allow remote commands)

2. use EventLog monitoring feature (look for information you need by eventid)

2. use remote execute method and remotely parse simple text log of AV soft and send info to Zabbix server for collection.
