Very simple
1. make mail config (smtp server and other)
2. add email in profile your's user
3. make simple trigger
4. make action trigger to send email

I don't know how test, but if parameter is wrong you don't receive a mail and you can check zabbix log, monitoring-(events)triggers from web interface
