    Zabbix Monitoring Router Status

    Hi,

Sorry, I don´t speak very well English but understand .

Well, i´m using Zabbix to monitor a range of router in Wan Network. I want to Zabbix alert me after 5 minutes router goes down and 5 minutes router goes up. So, how can i do that? Please help me. I´m newer in Zabbix and i´m using 1.8.1 version.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks

You can do this by ICMP Ping item and a trigger

Create simple check item with key icmpping which monitors the router availability

Create a trigger with expression like
    {Template_Availability:icmpping.max(300)}=0

Here 300 is 300 seconds. We are checking if the values received in last 5 minute are 0 (down). This takes care of any spikes.

You need to create an action to get notification. By the way, it will notify you immediately when the router is up. (I am not sure why you want to wait for 5 minutes for router is up notification)

    Regards
    Vijay

      Thanks for Help Vijay.

I want to wait for 5 minutes for router is up because i dont want to receive notification everytime when i got a bottleneck in my network. For example: the router goes down, after 1 minute the router goes up, after 2 minutes goes down, etc. So, i want to have a delay for notifications.

Any way to receive notification 5 minutes after the router goes up?

      Thanks in advance.

I see a way to do this through escalations. Define separate action for Trigger Status PROBLEM and OK

In OK notification action, enable escalation with delay of 5 mins.
I have not tested this myself, but you can try and check.
