    When housekeeping starts?

    Right now I'm working on simple bash script that would allow to control housekeeping process time.

    To fully understand will it work correct I have one question mainly to developers:

    When Zabbix housekeeping starts after server restart (How long it takes)?

    For example, if i set housekeeping to 4, will it start immediately after server restart or after 4 hours or ???

    Thank you!

    Looks like it starts immediately after the server restart

    I am not from zabbix developer team, but I don’t have to be one to answer this. Please see this server log

    Highlighted shows, housekeeper runs immediately after restart

    Hope you aware of fine-grained controls like HousekeepingFrequency, MaxHousekeeperDelete zabbix provides.

    By the way, what are you trying to do?

    I guess you wanted to run housekeeping during off-production hours? That would be good to have if you make it !!

      I'm trying to find a workaround to Housekeeping load problem, to allow housekeeping process only at night-time.

      Idea for workaround is pretty simple - you have two configuration files - one with housekeeping enabled - zabbix_server.conf_w (Housekeeping interval is still a question) other with housekeeping disabled - zabbix_server.conf_wo. Bash script takes care of swaping cfg files and restarting zabbix_server

      Script Draft looks like this:

      Turn ON:
      Code:
      #!/bin/bash
      # Turn ON Zabbix Housekeeping
      cp -f /etc/zabbix/zabbix_server.conf_w /etc/zabbix/zabbix_server.conf
      /etc/init.d/zabbix_server restart
      Turn OFF:
      Code:
      #!/bin/bash
      # Turn OFF Zabbix Housekeeping
      cp -f /etc/zabbix/zabbix_server.conf_wo /etc/zabbix/zabbix_server.conf
      /etc/init.d/zabbix_server restart

        So ... MaxHousekeeperDelete will not help in this case ? To control how many items will be deleted and keep load with low values ?
