    Time zone

    Hi,

I have setup a zabbix setup with the server based in Belgium and a proxy based in UK monitoring devices in both locations.

I have added my UK collegues to the UI interface allowing them to follow their infrastructure but the time noted on events,... are all in Belgian time zone and they are -1h.

How does or doesn't Zabbix handle time and proxies in different time zones,...

At the momoent both servers are running in their correct time zones.

    Thanks,

    Tom

Zabbix keeps all timestamps in time zone independent format, so you may run all Zabbix components (server, proxy, agents, GUI) in different time zones without any issues.

I'm guessing my issue is then comming from the fact that both my Belgian and UK admins are running the GUI off a central system located in Belgium and that servers time zone is set to Belgium?

I'm also guessing there will be no way for the client to set or manipulate a time zone setting in the GUI at this moment?

Zabbix converts all timestamps to the time zone set for the GUI. So, if the GUI is in Belgium time zone, all users of the GUI will see Belgium time.

As a solution you may have two GUIs installed: one with Belgium time and another one with London time. Currently Zabbix does not support different time zones on per-user level.

that's very clear and I assume the same counts for alerts being emailed, the data in the alerts is being generated on the Belgian time zone server meaning all info is mailed with this timezone in mind.

Meaning the gui I could split off, but the alerts would always reflect the BE timezone as i can't split alert generation done by the zabbix server process.

Yes, you cannot split alert generation (why?), but you can change time displayed and entered via GUI. That's what you need. Zabbix will take care of conversion from/to internal time format.

Wouldn't be much easier for your colleges in London to see time in GUI in London timezone?!
From my point of view, each user should have possibility to select it's own timezone!

Making timezone a user option into the GUI would be the best option. As it's important for us I was looking at any way to do it.
