    bulk export

    Hi folks,

I just upgraded to 1.8.3 and I am quite impressed with it.
I still have a problem (or maybe I just have problems finding the right documentation) :

According to "Whats new in 1.8.3" export has been moved to the template/host sections of the configuration menu.
This would mean that I could only export my hosts by hostgroups. An export of all hosts would not be possible anymore.

Am I missing something or do I really have to enter each group, mark all hosts and export ?
Any hints on how to do better "full backups" would be much appreciated.

    Best regards
    Tobias

imho you would be far better off by taking full backups at the database layer, unless you have a very good reason not to.
As an alternative, if what you say is really true, I'd go with a hostgroup with all hosts in it, so you can export that.

      20 gb

well I wouldn't really want to backup 20GB of data all the time and I just wanted to save the configuration
the thing about the hostgroup is that I don't need another one in dashboard which I use all the time - is there a way to exclude a hostgroup from showing up in dashboard even when there are active triggers ?

You can always exclude the alert and history* tables from your database backup, that should shrink things down a lot.
As for hiding groups. I don't think it's possible

You can configure which groups to show in dashboard.

If I remember it correctly, you may go to administration->general->GUI, dropdown -> show all.

Then you can select in conf->hosts all groups in dropdown.
