Thanks for your reply. You're correctly. As a matter of fact I looked into support site and realized that it was fixed since version 1.9.8 (beta). See more information at https://support.zabbix.com/browse/ZBX-4139.

So, if I want this solved I need to upgrade my production version to the latest release.

I got it fixed with luck, here is the story.

At first, in order to fix latest data width issue, I follow the instruction in http://mypoorbraindump.wordpress.com...-column-width/ , it works perfectly.

$YOUR_ZBX_PATH/zabbix/include/items.inc.php

Here’s what the lines look like after I made my change from 20 to 50.

if (zbx_strlen($lastvalue) > 50) {
$lastvalue = zbx_substr($lastvalue, 0, 50).' ...';

Then, a surprise to me, I found the issue on the dashboard was fixed, somehow dashboard also depend on that file, hope this can help other people.
