    Polling Zabbix from HPOV

    Hi,

I'm planning to install a Zabbix-server for polling my devices.

The department doing the after-hours monitoring of our network is using HPOV.

I would like Zabbix to be in charge and I'm looking for a way to let HPOV poll my Zabbix server (thus Zabbix acting as a SNMP-daemon or so).

I know Zabbix can send traps to HPOV, but the current HPOV requires to be polling itself.

Can anyone help me out with advice, please ?

    Kind regards,

    Gorik

    Hi Gorik.

We're currently migrate von HPOV to ZABBIX an so i have some experience with both. In our environment, HPOV is running at HP-UX and ZABBIX at RHEL5.

I think the easiest way is to install the HPOV Agent on the ZABBIX Server an then:

Idea 1: create an "action" with "event source" = "trigger".
This action could issue a remote command using "logger" to send messages to syslog which is monitored by HPOV Agent.

Idea 2: create an "action" with "event source" = "trigger" too :-)
But this action is caused to start "opcmsg" as remote command and sends the issue directly to HPOV

    Regards, Marcus
