Have you replaced <ip>,<count>,<interval>,<size>,<timeout> parameters with actual values ?
<something> is Zabbix notation to indicate that something is an optional parameter.
If default values are OK, you can just use icmppingloss[].

        pingloss

in the template there is this item :icmppingloss[<ip>,<count>,<interval>,<size>,<timeout>]

i must put some parameters ?
you can put an example ?

for ip,i associated this template to a host so it should take this ip.
        it's correct ?

          Hi,

As I said before, all parameters are optional.
          Code:
          icmppingloss[]
          should be OK.

          Regards,

As Alixen said. These parameters are optional! Delete them and just use icmppingloss[].
If you don't delete them you must specify them!
              Example:
              icmpping [192.168.1.1,,,]
The words in brackets < > are placeholders!!!!

                hi

as you have sayed me, without parameters it runs! thank you very much

now, i should do the ping every minutes with 10 consecutive ,if 3 packets come lost, the trigger should send me e email.

what parameters i must insert in icmppingloss ?

                thank you very much again!

                  Hello Fabio,

                  icmpingloss[,10,6000,,,]
This will send 10 packets in intervall of 1 minute. As a result you will get a percentage of loss. Therefore you have to create a trigger that fires if the value is equal or higher than 30 %.
But it would be better to decrease intervall and send more packets from my point of view.

You can also use an item with icmpping[] and and than have a trigger like this:
                  {template:icmpping.count(#10,0)}=3
This means that if the last 10 Values of this item contains 3 times the value "0" which means Ping failed the trigger is on problem state.

It depends on what you want to monitor. Detect complete loss of a connection to a system (=icmpping) or instable conditions(=icmppingloss)

                              Hi,

Are you sure that you want 10 packets with 6000 ms delay between packets ?
That means that your check will need 60 seconds to finish, that a lot !!
I would probably use something like 100 ms delay so that whole test takes less than one second.

                              Regards,
