Not collecting *anything*

fresh install onto a box that was previously working. Now not picking up anything at all. No green light on the zabbix agent in hosts config. But I can telnet from the server to the hosts on 10050 fine.

No DM, just a straight easy setup that we've done here 50 times before.

Any ideas? I'm just stumped now.

I'll try a complete removal and reinstall. I dont see anything else thats wrong. I reinstalled the old DB and its picking up some hosts but now all. Why would it connect to some hosts on the old DB, yet on a fresh install not pick up anything??

seriously, any ideas would help here.

how large setup is that ? maybe running out of item/config cache ? what interesting errors are visible in the server logfile ?

Not a large setup by any means, maybe 50 hosts.

I've rebuilt the DB again (in the end going back to the DM setup, but using a different nodeID) and it seems to have cured the situation.

But previously, nothing in the log, and nothing picking up on a "tcpdump port 10050" either. very very odd, it just didnt want to start polling.

if you are messing with distributed monitoring, that might impact things a lot, for example, not matching nodeid in server config and elsewhere etc

Yeah, appreciate that, but that was all configured as before. NodeID set, zabbix_server -n X run etc etc.

That said, when we used a differnt nodeID it did start working, so seems related. I'll kick off a seperate post because it may be a bug with the DM setup.
