    zabbix for tomcat

    Hi,
I tried to get zabbix to monitor tomcat in linux.

the default template template_tomcat in 1.8.3 is used, but it shows that it is not supported.

I searched zabbix forums for tomcat, it looks that the question has been asked before and no resolution is provided.

one of the link points to zapcat, but it has not been updated for 3 years.

Anybody has the experience to get zabbix to monitor tomcat in linux?

    thanks.

Search the forum for Zapcat (there is one issue with Zapcat and 1.8.3 but the devs added a temporary fix for the issue in 1.8.4. So for now I'd use 1.8.4RC1's GUI if you need to modify the template).

The Java and Tomcat templates are actually designed for Zapcat so you really only need to deploy the war, enable JMX and configure the host to get it to work.

I use this today for all our java/tomcat based apps (around 50 globally). In fact its helped us track down some config issues (GC config and memory parameters) on a few apps.

I just tried zabbix 1.8.4.RC1 and configured the system.
it looks that tomcat monitoring has only one item activated. the rest of tomcat items were activated but becomes "not supported" shortly as attached screen.

I also tried a different solution by saving the file http://ec2-184-72-200-253.compute-1....definition.xml for import as host file into zabbix. After the importing, the screen becomes half blank and hangup over there. No indication of success or failure.

any suggestions to get this problem resolved?
      thanks.
