Zabbix isn't proper tool if one device is monitored by several independent users ?

    Hi!
I have to decide , choose Zabbix as main monitoring tool or not -
Some of our company customers have permissions to monitor information concerning their interfaces on switches and routers.
I was trying to configure Zabbix as monitoring tool for such task, but it seems somehow extensive, according configuration and network traffic for monitoring purposes. For example , if administrator and 4 independent users want to monitor the switch, ( administrator collecting all information and users - each only from one specific interface ), must be created 5 users/user groups and 5 templates for the same switch and data will be demanded from device for administrator and each user as well. But maybe I am wrong and there are better configuration variants ?

    Hi,

I have the exact same question. We are evaluating differents monitoring solutions and are willing to provide our customers access to information only on a specific port (their port) on our switches. But it seems that the rights management is not Item related but host related.

Any idea how to do this ?

    Thanks for your help.

      1 Possible way:

Make your hosts be determined by name rather than by IP.

Add aliases or some such to your DNS, if need be.

Then that Zabbix "host" can access the same switch and you can add granular controls to that host. At my company we refer to those as VIP, or virtual IP.
