Zabbix Agent - Remote Auto Startup and email?

    Hi,

I am new to Zabbix and have deployed the agent to a number of machines to monitor. All is fine, configured discovery, actions, notifications etc sweet...

But one thing i noticed is the machine is rebooted, the Zabbix agent is not started automatically, so on the Zabbix GUI the host is RED under availability. I had to manually log on the machine and start the agent then turned green.

Is there a way to automatically start the zabbix agent or start it remotely from the Zabbix GUI?

    Secondly is email:
Can Zabbix send to a address with multiple distribution lists? so for example i am sending to [email protected] which contains 3 other DL's inside containing many email addresses.

It can send to individual email addresses fine.

    Thanks in advanced.

Q1. To enable automatic stopping and starting of the zabbix_agentd, see this wiki article. About half way down the page where it says, "Next, configure /etc/init.d/".
    http://www.zabbix.com/wiki/howto/monitor/os/linux/agentinstallonlinux

Q2. Try it and see what happens.

Thanks. I will give that a go, though these are Windows machines.

Well, if they are Windows boxes, then the link I gave won't help you.

In Windows, go to Services (type services in the search box)
In Services, find the Zabbix_Agent service. Right click, choose Properties, then configure it to Auto-start.

I haven't had any luck using distribution lists for sending alerts. Instead, I put the multiple e-mail addresses under a single user account. I have not yet run into a limit for the number of e-mail accounts you can have for one user. I have one user account with about a dozen different e-mail addresses.
