    trend-based triggers

is it possible to have zabbix activate a trigger based on a trend, for example if another trigger changes state more than 20 times a week?

Yes, just check the trigger expressions, they should help you. You can create trigger dependencies on other triggers.

However, I guess you would need the data in history (not trend), so if you would trigger on something that is not in your history data anymore (i.e. you choose to keep an item history for 7 days, and want to trigger on a period over 20 days) this might become complex...

Sorry to be digging up such an old thread but this is one of the first results when searching for info on this topic and the answer actually seems to be no.

https://www.zabbix.com/documentation...ers/expression which appears to be the current location of the documentation on trigger expressions has a section stating the following.

Triggers only evaluate history information. If history is not available (especially relevant for time shift), trend information is not used, thus history must be kept for at least the period trigger functions expect it.

I would set an Item to monitor it every 5 minutes and keep the data for at least a month. Then create two triggers not dependent on each other. One will change status every time the Item goes down. The second one uses the same Item's data but using count (or avg) with time_shift of two weeks.

The first trigger lets me immediately. The second just counts if there is a lot of errors coming in during the 2 weeks. Not dependent on each other but dependent on the same data.

So basically the same thing EnigmA-X said :-)
