Can you show us the output of: ps -ax | grep zabbix ?

My guess is that you are dealing with zombie processes or something like that. Try to be sure that all zabbix_server processes are stopped/killed before you restart your server.

Stop or kill the processes, until you have no more running processes named zabbix_server. Than start your server and see if that works.

If it doesn't, please share the log output and a ps -ax |grep zabbix with us again.

              Dear Aly,

I did the same as you mentioned in your previous post, i killed all the process and reboot the server. once the server came up i started the zabbix_server but again it was showing number of processes while executing the command (ps -ef | grep zabbix_server).

I dont see any mention of the Agent in your Service search.

Bear in mind, the mechanism through which the Zabbix server iteself recieves data about itself is via an Agent.

As such, your Zabbix server also needs to be running the zabbix_agentd.

Configure and start that and see if it clears.

                  Cheers,

                  JC

Well it looks like Zabbix isn't running!

Remove the ' - ' to get rid of the Warning error.

                    Is mysql running?

Can you ping and telnet to the Hosts that appear in the server.log?

Do you have a firewall running on Zabbix server, blocking the Hosts?

                    Have you configured /etc/resolv.conf?

Why are you running Zabbix 1.6, better to upgrade to 1.6.6 or .8 or .9

                    And what about selinux? http://www.zabbix.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10737

This could be a long shot, but ... try this

                            # /etc/init.d/nscd status
                            nscd (pid 11172) is running...
