SNMP Builder

Today I use zabbix to monitor my servers and equipment where necessary to verify the latency by PING.
Now I must also monitor my assets through Zabbix. One question I have had is about the configuration of monitored devices via SNMP.

Researching the topic I found a module called SNMP MIB Builder that runs through the managed device and mount a pro same template.
In theory it is the perfect tool, however I had trouble getting to run the module, for example, the table of the MIB does not load images as the link.
What I know is if anyone has used this module and have any tips to activate the same?
If you have not used this module but know some other tool that has the similar operation, which would it be? How to use?

Do not want to understand wrong and think they want something done, instead, just need an indication of how to proceed and what better way to add an SNMP device without having to manually create a model pro same, which makes it impossible to monitor that way.

SNMP monitoring the right way

There are two ways to do it. Both are actually good and valid.

1 - Use a web interface to interactively walk the MIB select what you want and have it integrated in a monitored data point. Some tools will list pre-established tables others will let you walk the whole MIB.

Notes: MIBs are often broken, but will provide more information interactively. (SNMP Builder) The same can be achieved by looking at the MIB file and selecting which tables or OIDs can be added by creating templates which can then be used interactively in the web interface. (Cacti)

2 - Have a module/script/component execute which will connect to the device, figure out what kind it is and what data points should be collected based on templates/configs/runtime options. The output from this creates a host, data about the host and what needs to be monitored(items, triggers, actions). (Ex. genDevConfig for Cricket, SNMP Template Generator on Zabbix Wiki, zloadconfig on Zabbix Wiki) There may be others but they are not listed on the wiki...

I have had great success with both methods. Zabbix SNMP Builder is great but needs a bit of TLC to patch everything up and update the github code repository.

The other types of scripts require that your device be recognized, so if it is not, you can extend the script to support it.

As a proponent of automation, the scripted approach yields the most success(keep meta data associated with the data point up to date; descriptions, speed, keywords, hardware types, etc.) for large deployments that are kept up to date, whereas a manual approach such as SNMP Builder is a good complement, but by itself does not scale.
