    How to configure Alert Hierarchy?

    Hi,

I'm new and still learning Zabbix. Is there a way to configure alert hierarchy? Let me explain...you're monitoring a remote location. The router is the first device then the switch then the rest of the devices (PC, printers, etc). Is there a way to configure Zabbix so if the T1 is down (which means Zabbix can't communicate with the rest of the devices) then it would only alert the router is down and not all of the devices it is monitoring at that location? Same goes for the switch, if the switch goes down it would alert that the switch is down but not all the devices connected to the switch.

    Thanks for looking and answering.

What you are looking for is called trigger dependencies. What will happen is that if you make your downstream triggers (e.g. printers, etc) "dependent" on one or more upstream triggers (e.g. the router or switch), they will not send notifications in the event that the upstream trigger is also active.

Look for trigger dependencies in the Zabbix documentation for more information.
