    unable to recieve emails

    Hello,

I have created a template for testing SSH, HTTP and ICMP servers.
I linked the template to a host.
I congifured the media types and users for E-mail alerts.

    smtp server: mail.cephb.fr
    smtp helo: cephb.fr
    smtp email: [email protected]

And finally, I created the concerned triggers and corresponding actions.

In configuration -> actions -> action operations, I have one user group which contains two e-mail addresses.

Zabbix is sending me issues but I have not received any mail alert to either of my two addresses.
I also read the word "notifications" on the net many a times but I dont know exactly what does it mean. Is it the same thing as issues?

All documents and blogs I read on the internet say that the last step for sending mails is to create an action.
My action is created but there are no mails.
I am waiting since long time.
Is there anything more to do after creating action?
Or have I made a mistake somewhere ?
    I dont know.

I would be grateful if you can help.
    Thankyou

    Rucha.

    Hi,

You can check in Administration -> Notifications if Zabbix has sent notifications.

You can also check in Monitoring -> Events.
You should see Ok in "Actions" column if Zabbix has sent notifications.
You can also click on the link in "Time" column of one of those events and look at "Message actions" section, it gives detailed information about notifications sent.

If everything looks OK on Zabbix side, you should check in logs of destination server if something was received.

    Regards,

Thankyou for your reply Alixen .

I guess I did not do a proper search before asking this question.

But I have noticed that I did not receive any notifications. (its all 0(0/0/0) in the admin column)

The event section shows all the triggers having problem. However, in the message section, it is written "No actions found".

So may be the problem is with the action I created. But I dont know what is the problem.

These are the Action conditions I inserted with an OR operator.
      (A) Trigger = "http server is down on unknkown_host"
      (B) Trigger severity >= "Average"
      (C) Trigger value = "PROBLEM"

In Action Operations, I added a single user - Admin which contains two e-mail addresses.

      Event Source: Trigger
      Default messages, etc. : Empty.

Neither did the destination server receive any mails.

I am not able to see where the problem could be.

      Best Regards,
      Rucha.

Have you configured the email server settings correctly under Administration, Media Types?
        With kind regards,

        Raymond

So the problem is in your Zabbix configuration

            Start simple, remove ALL conditions.
Make sure that you are receiving emails before trying to filter them.

You should have a message subject and message body defined.
Either in "Action operation" or in "Default message" section.

              Thankyou Alixen for your help.
Finally, I received two mails from zabbix during the weekend.

But I seriously did not understand the conditions under which it sends mails.
Does it sends a mail only when there is a transition in the status of a trigger?(i.e, if there is a trigger which has a problem from the start, then no mail is sent).
Moreover, I have not received any notification yet. That is strange.
I guess I have still not understood the way of fuctioning of the mail alerts.

I have not yet done the modifications that you asked me to do in the trigger.
I am continuing to work on that.
I shall come back to you if I dont understand.
Thankyou once again for your guidance,

              Best Regards et bonne continuation,
              Rucha.
