    Zabbix Groups?

    Hello,
I am trying to change permissions for users in Zabbix but I'm a bit lost
Is there another way to set up permissions than selecting zabbix_user/zabbix_admin and changing read/readwrite permissions on hosts?
What is the meanings of groups "Head of IT department", "Network administrators", "guests"... ? Is it only to classify users?

    Use following way:
    - create UserGroup for every Customer
    - create User(s) in this Group
    - create HostGroup for every Customer
    - create Hosts in this Group
    - the UserGroup got's the Rights read/write on the HostGroup
    Ready

PS: from the standard groups I only have the "Zabbix Administrators", "Guests" and "Disabled". The last two I don't use ... Feel free to delete the garbage

Thank you for your reply, but what is the meanings of groups "Head of IT department", "Network administrators", "guests"... ? Is it only to classify users or do they have special permissions?

I created 2 users in groups "Head of IT department" and "new_group" with same read rights on hosts and it seems there is no difference.
So I assume that groups "Head of IT department", "Network administrators" ... are only to classify/organize users and have no impact on access rights.

            hey tof233

You can check whether or not the groups are required by Zabbix by clicking on the group name (for ex. in admin>users>Head of IT department) and viewing what's in there...

For example, my setup is still at default for these and shows no permissions for the above particular user, User & GUI Access are enabled but rw/ro & deny are all blank and none of my created users have been added...

Guest has some perms, as does Network Admins ( I think! but don't quote me!) ...you can edit this as freely as you please...

They will only have impact on access rights if you have put users IN any of those particular groups & selected permissions for each.

            Hope this helps

            Laura.
