    Running checks remotely

    Hi all,

Just trying to get to grips with zabbix. One things that would be useful is the ability to run the command in an item manually to see the results obtained. Then I could watch the remote system and use that as a benchmark for a graph etc... I don't know if this is possible. Could anyone give me tips on how to remotely run a command and check the return values? Or if it is even possible?

Basically, to be clear, simply go to a command prompt, run a check against a remote PC and get a value returned to me. Will help check correct settings in items quickly without waiting for each update.

Thanks a lot. Sorry if a noob question.

    Cheers

What *type* of check are you interested in?

If an agent check, look at zabbix_get
    http://www.zabbix.com/documentation/...ges/zabbix_get

If an SNMP check, look at snmpget/snmpwalk/etc.
    http://www.net-snmp.org/docs/man/

Many thanks for the reply Orion. Basic agent checks are what i am after. Should be cooking with gas now! Assigning keys in items was always really time consuming waiting to see the response.

      Cheers again
