    Maitencance or Disabling host from Agent

    Hello,

    is there a way to disable some check from the client side?

    Everyday there is a backup running which disables various services during the backup. How can I stop that server from monitoring during this time?

    Backup Server A starts Backup on Server B and disable services on Server B
    Backup Server A starts Backup on Server C and disable services on Server C
    and so on....

    Option 1 (the older harder way)
    Make an item that is called "Maintenance status"

    0= maintenance off
    1= maintenance on

    Use zabbix_sender (by way of cron) to send the maintenance on signal before maintenance starts.

    Build into the specific triggers (which are down) an extra check which checks to see if maintenance is on or off.

    Have cron send the maintenance off signal when done (or whatever scripts are running could do it).

    Option 2: The new way (much easier)
    You could just set up recurring maintenance in the UI under Configuration -> Maintenance to not send notifications during a pre-determined time period on pre-defined days of the week/month/etc.

    Granted, your actions for notification must all then include "and not in maintenance" as a pre-cursor to notification. This is documented in the zabbix documentation, though, as well as here in the forums.

      Thanks very much

      I like Option one because it is realy only then in maintenance during the backup.

      If I understand you right then is option 2 based on time...which means I have to choose the timeframe big enough to be sure not to trigger any alarms.
